Dauerausstellung

Das Museum Sammlung Prinzhorn zeigt neben den Sonderausstellungen auch eine Dauerausstellung. Unter dem Titel Die Sammlung Prinzhorn – von „Irrenkunst" zur Outsider Art wird mit rund 120 Werken aus psychiatrischem Kontext von Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts bis heute ein kleiner Einblick in die 40.000 Werke starke Sammlung gegeben.

Alles Kunst? 25 Jahre Museum Sammlung Prinzhorn

Im Jahr 2001, rund 80 Jahre nach ihrer Gründung, erhielt die Sammlung Prinzhorn ein eigenes Museumsgebäude. Nach zahlreichen Ausstellungen im In- und Ausland wurde aus der Sammlung von „Anstaltswerken“ „Kunst“ und aus einem ehemaligen Hörsaalgebäude der Neurologie ein Kunstmuseum.

"Außenseiten" Public Art Project

For the “Außenseiten” collaboration series with Haus am Wehrsteg, comic artist Hendrik Dorgathen explored the life and work of Katharina Detzel. In his comic strip, he employs an unusual narrative structure featuring experiences that “reach out” to Detzel from all sides. In addition to images, he also employs a symbolic language that brings home the otherworldly nature of her situation. His artistic response, printed on tarpaulin, will be on display on the facade of the Haus am Wehrsteg starting in July.

Exhibition: Comics and Outsider Art – The "Außenseiten" Project

The exhibition presents twelve “Outside Pages”—artistic responses by comic artists to the Prinzhorn Collection, which have been on display since 2022 as large-format tarps on the facade of the Haus am Wehrsteg. They are complemented by works from the collection that served as a source of inspiration. A collaborative project between Haus am Wehrsteg and the Prinzhorn Collection, with the kind support of the Heidelberg Public Library. Location: Heidelberg Public Library. Free admission.
